The Beginning a New Era for Modern Gaming in 1998

Posted : 1 year, 1 month ago on 6 November 2008 09:26 (A review of Metal Gear Solid)

This is much more than a video game; it's an experience. With the intriguing story ever told on any medium, superb graphics that raised the bar for its console, ingenious gameplay mechanics that would influence a new genre for gaming, and the most interesting game character ever created, Metal Gear Solid is the most important thing to happen to modern gaming. Not since the release of Super Mario for the NES has anything had such an influential impact.

Wow. Games this fantastic shouldn't have been possible on the PlayStation! Everyone should now about MGS by now. You play as the iconic super spy, Solid Snake, sent to infiltrate a military base overrun by super soldiers. You goal is to prevent the sinister militia from stealing and using the US Army's brand new tactical nuclear weapons - a huge walking bipedal capable of stealthed movement and nuclear strike.

The gameplay from this game, like the rest of the series, is thrilling, rewarding and entertaining from beginning to end. Unlike the latter games, the plot is relatively straight forward, never too complicated and it doesn't insult your intelligence. This game is technically the birth of a great series. You will not tire of it, or fail to be amazed by all of the quirks, easter eggs and generally awesome and lifelike moments you experience in the game.
