Online gameplay added to the fun

Posted : 1 year, 6 months ago at May 23 3:21
The gameplay of Mario Kart for the Wii is eerily similar to Mario Kart 64, which I loved. So it stands to reason that I love the latest game in the series too. The game looks great, all the elements are more polished and colourful. There are plenty of new tracks and vehicles. This is an excellent addition to this excellent series of games. The strength of this game still lies in the gameplay, not technical virtuosity. The killer addition is online gameplay. Nintendo got this one absolutely right, again. The only thing I don't like is the power up strategy. Basically, the further up the field you are, the worse power ups you get. The best ones are reserved for people lower down. It keeps the field competitive and is great if you're trying to come from behind but the flip side is that...Read more

A little too much focus on weapons

Posted : 1 year, 7 months ago at Apr 27 15:24
Overall I'm not disappointed, as I've yet to be from any of the Mario Kart series. It delivers the game play fans look for while carefully adding new features to enhance that game play without alienating older fans. My only qualm with this game really is that with so many weapons, many a little more powerful than need be, it takes away from a need for driving skills. A player can take every turn flawlessly and hit just the right sequence of jumps on the straight-aways, but if an opponent gets a lucky string of items or sets one off while you're in mid air you can quickly lose what ever lead you may have had. I'd like to see more focus on the skill based items and timing rather than heavy hitters that can't fail.

Never the less, still a worthy purchase.

Mario Kart Wii

Mario Kart is a strange phenomenon. Especially in Europe, the game is insanely popular, yet most fans have a thing or two to complain about. Mario Kart 64 wasn’t up to scratch, Double Dash wasn’t up to scratch, Mario Kart DS online was spoiled by the people who used snaking to win every match. Personally, I don’t agree with all of this. I really enjoyed Double Dash, to the point where my better half and myself still played the multiplayer every week up until this day. To say I had high hopes for the Wii installment would be an understatement. Was the wait all worth it though, or is this just the same old game with a steering wheel? Well, yes, this is the same old game with a steering wheel. But I see this as a good thing. Mario Kart was always a fun experience and the steering whe...Read more

I went and bought this game Firday when it got released here at 12am thats how much i wanted this game and i never go for a game at that time but here is my review and playing you about this version of Mario Kart Wii. Mario Kart on the Wii bigger better then all the others what makes this game on your Wii so great is having it online adds more fun to the game. Classic racing tracks have been put into the game from SNES, N64, Gamecube, GBA and DS along with new tracks. Online features 12 players to race online and a battle mode which you can play coin runner you have to collect the coins along with your team who gets the most wins. Then also in battle mode online there is balloon race you and your team get 3 balloons if any get knocked off the other team takes 1 point. This is great i have ...Read more
