GTA3 was the reason I bought a Ps2. Ok scratch that, because the first game I got for my Ps2 was Tony Hawk 3; but I don't think I spent more hours on any other game than plugging into the GTA3 world. This game really has it all, you can roam a huge free environment, populated world, steal cars, start riots, even see how long you can last against the police/military: a favorite between me and my fr... read more
I have recently had the pleasure of breaking this game out again, except on PC, and I'm still just as thrilled to play it as when it first came out. The story may be a tad simple, just one of betrayal, revenge, and more betrayal, but it's enough to keep the game going forward. I feel like one of a just a handful of people who actually played the story missions instead of just roaming around, runni... read more

During a bank heist, Claude is betrayed by Catalina and her Colombian friend Miguel, and he is shot by her just as they are leaving the scene of the crime. Claude fully recovers....in a prison cell. However, while being transported to a prison, Colombians ambush the prison van for an inmate riding with Claude. Claude and his friend, 8-Ball, escape in the process. Now it is time for revenge. Claude slowly rises through the ranks of the local gangs, gaining trust from local mob bosses and turning on others. Claude gains influence, trust, and most importantly, money along the way. It is time for Claude to rise from the dead and get revenge for what Catalina has done.
The concept that makes GTA what it is, is now in 3D in this release. The game puts you in the shoes of a vicious, albeit novice, criminal. Traditionally, your missions center on the gangs inhabiting the city - each one always has jobs for you to perform, and your prosperity as a criminal depends on your ability to manipulate each gang. Ice a few members of one gang, and you'll gain its rival's favor. Jobs range anywhere from running dope and taking out rivals to sabotage and kidnapping.
"Of all gaming franchises politicians love to hate, Grand Theft Auto takes the cake. And none managed to do so in the way that Grand Theft Auto III did when it first arrived on the scene.
Considered an open world masterpiece by many, Rockstar’s romp through Liberty City allowed people to literally do whatever they wanted in a real life setting in a fictional major city. Everything from running red lights to mowing down pedestrians on the street with an assault rifle was playable in the game wi"

"I picked up Grand Theft Auto III around the time San Andreas was first released. it was my introduction to the extremely controversial series. I had seen it on the news and everywhere around me about these games. It took me some time to get used to it, then I learned this game was basically a game where you can do whatever you wanted. It was the ultimate way to relax after a stressful day at work.
The game still to this day is probably the most violent, just giving you the opportunity to murd"

I'll admit it - I didn't think that this game would be anything special. I had played Driver 2 and thought that it was alright, but was disappointed overall by the result. The Grand Theft Auto series wasn't as critically acclaimed as Driver, so I was expecting a similar result...Instead I got absolutely blown away. Whether you were working on the main story, working side jobs, collecting packages, o"

The first two were top-down while III adopted the 3D format which would bring the series to worldwide success and controversies and would invent the 'sandbox' genre which we all love to love...
Now the reason for being the highest ranking GTA title: I've played all from GTA 1 to GTA IV and this is the only one which seemed very GTA-esque. It had a dark, grim and unpredictable atmosphere and a much more better game-play than the others (I'm old-skool I know) and Claude, the ""
