Its U.S. debut was as part of Final Fantasy Anthology. It was also later ported to the Gameboy Advance, adding 4 new Jobs, a new 30-floor dungeon, a bestiary, a music player, the ability to quick save anywhere, a few extra pieces of equipment, and a newly update translation.
The game begins as a wanderer named Bartz investigates a fallen meteor. There, he encounters several characters who reveal the danger facing the four Crystals that control the world's elements. These Crystals act as a seal on Exdeath, an evil sorcerer who once threatened their world. Bartz and his party must keep the Crystals from being exploited by Exdeath's influence and prevent his resurgence.
Final Fantasy V has been praised for the freedom of customization that the player has over the characters, achieved through the greatly expanded Job System. Despite the lack of an early release in territories other than Japan, the Super Famicom version sold over 2 million copies.... (more)(less)

I have predilection for the JRPG classics, but I enjoy any kind of RPG video game.
I prefer linear stories and the sensation the game is telling me a story, rather than you're a silent character and can do as you please (I know it's for the sansation YOU are the character, but for that I prefer paper and dice RPG). "Ah, FF5. After the epic story-driven powerhouse that was FF4, Square decided to skip the more gameplay-driven FF5 with it's wonderful job system, and go straight to 6. While 6 is the darling of many gamers, 5 was one hell of a game. The job system went on to extensive use in the Tactics games and was even utlitized in FFX2 and FF3DS. It was originally to be called Final Fantasy Extreme, and released after 6 (3), but never happened. The fan-translation of this game is credited as really jump-star"

Unlike FF 1 and III, in FF V you can select a Sub Job Class which allows you to use abilities from more than one job. This is really handy when in certain situations a white mage's lack of strength and HP won't cut it fighting but you could really need the"
