I Thought ED stood for Erectile Dysfunction

It's been 10 years since the release of Silicon Knights' Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem on the Nintendo Gamecube, and I'm a little ashamed to admit that this was my first play of the game. That isn't to say it's the first I'd heard of it. On the contrary, I felt compelled to write this review because of how much I'd read prior to playing. This game makes the Top 10 on practically every horr... read more

One of the best Gamecube games ever made! Haunting, moody soundtrack, artistic, and cinematically would make an excellent film.

"Eternal Darkness has its Ancients, a set of gods who despite being mortal enemies have three so closely associated they fit here nicely: Chattur'gah: God of Strength and Matter, brutal and the least mind-focused, overpowers Xel'lotath. (Id) Ulyaoth: God of Magic and Spirit, the most intelligent - and arrogant about it, overpowers Chattur'gah. (Ego) Xel'lotath: Goddess of Sanity and Insanity, brooding and, quite suitably, insane, overpowers Ulyaoth. (Superego) "

"No.221 / Added: 12.14.12 / Status: Not Played Many people out there probably know why I picked this one up. I swear that everyone out there that is into video games has heard at least some fragment of a given conversation or has that friend that has told them that Eternal Darkness is must play a "cult classic" despite the fact it was a financial flop for Silicon Knights. Personally I don't know if that's true or not but you have to at least respect the fact that word about the game is still gett"

" ...to get the most out of this, you need to go in as blind as possible, so don't watch any gameplay videos or any spoilers of the kind. The idea of the Sanity system is to mess with your head, and how can it do that if you know what's coming in advance? "I Thought ED stood for Erectile Dysfunction" 8/10 "

That isn't to say it's the first I'd heard of it. On the contrary, I felt compelled to write this review because of how much I'd read prior to playing. This game makes the Top 10 on practically every horror list on the Internet and is generally considered a "lesser known" title, although how "lesser known" depends on your taste and experience. If you're like me and like hearing what other gamers have to say, then you undoubtedly have heard something about Eternal Darkness (if you haven't played it yourself). And that is probably enough to bias the way you will see the game or even the way you pl” read more

"A game that is underrated. This is a brilliantly atmospheric psychological horror influenced by Edgar Allen Poe and H.P. Lovecraft. The story is almost as immersive as Poe's short stories;the innovative sanity effects really pull you into the game and are sometimes terrifying."
