I Thought ED stood for Erectile Dysfunction

It's been 10 years since the release of Silicon Knights' Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem on the Nintendo Gamecube, and I'm a little ashamed to admit that this was my first play of the game. That isn't to say it's the first I'd heard of it. On the contrary, I felt compelled to write this review because of how much I'd read prior to playing. One of the best Gamecube games ever made! Haunting, moody soundtrack, artistic, and cinematically would make an excellent film.

Very original game that hasn't aged particularly well. It starts off great, with a creepy atmosphere and interesting settings and story. Towards the end, the clunky controls and frustrating gameplay became very annoying to me, to the point where when I finished it I was just glad to be done with the game. That said, I'd still recommend it to people. It's fun, if you like this era of survival horro... read more

Description: Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is a psycological thriller brought to you by the Canadian based Silicon Knights. In ED, you play a total of twelve characters, spanning several locations and dates. You will play in Ancient Rome, Persia, the Middle East, and modern-day Rhode Island. Throughout the game, you will have access to several projectile and melee weapons, such as swords, torches, shotguns, and pistols. ED features a unique Magick system, which requires you to combine different Runes to create different magick spells. Some of these spells are Restoration, Bind, and others that will aid you in your quest. ED has ... (more)

" ...to get the most out of this, you need to go in as blind as possible, so don't watch any gameplay videos or any spoilers of the kind. The idea of the Sanity system is to mess with your head, and how can it do that if you know what's coming in advance? "I Thought ED stood for Erectile Dysfunction" 8/10 "

I Thought ED stood for Erectile Dysfunction

“It's been 10 years since the release of Silicon Knights' Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem on the Nintendo Gamecube, and I'm a little ashamed to admit that this was my first play of the game. That isn't to say it's the first I'd heard of it. On the contrary, I felt compelled to write this review because of how much I'd read prior to playing. This game makes the Top 10 on practically every horror list on the Internet and is generally considered a "lesser known" title, although how "lesser known" depends on your taste and experience. If you're like me and like hearing what other gamers have to say, then you undoubtedly have heard something about Eternal Darkness (if you haven't played it yourself). And that is probably enough to bias the way you will see the game or even the way you pl” read more

"A game that is underrated. This is a brilliantly atmospheric psychological horror influenced by Edgar Allen Poe and H.P. Lovecraft. The story is almost as immersive as Poe's short stories;the innovative sanity effects really pull you into the game and are sometimes terrifying."

"When the hype machine was running on Nintendo's upcoming survival-horror game, everyone was asking, "Silicon Knights who?" This was an unheard-of company, and it was supposed to be putting together a Resident Evil killer? Despite the unlikely source, Eternal Darkness became one of the best, most intuitive, and most frightening horror games ever released."
