The best game ever made?

Easily. DX utilizes the UT engine, but takes out the monotonous gameplay and actually adds some sort of plot! And what a plot that is - one of the most immersive and captivating plots of any game I've ever played. If games could be compared to books, this would be an encyclopaedia compared to the ten a penny Dr Seuss FPSs that seem to come out these days. I ... read more

Deus Ex told a fascinating story and featured enough quasi-unique elements to make it a truly fantastic game.

I just can't stop beating it. (26 games items)

"Okay, so I was late to the party when it comes to playing this game. So this game didn't get its hooks into me when it probably should have. I have had this game talked up so much, I felt kind of let down when I started playing it. Plus, the intro area is so god damned BORING. Having said that, I was able to stick with it, get through the intro, and THEN the game got much, MUCH better! I will admit, when I played the game the first time, I wound up putting all of my points into guns and I w"

"Status: Completed Playing time: 35 hours My first time playing this, but probably not the last. In my childhood my parents' PC was so slow that I couldn't play any PC games, so before I had only watched my friend playing this in his house. It looked truly amazing, and now that I have finally completed it, I can say that it is everything the great reviews claim it to be. First of all the story is really engrossing and interesting. The choices you must make during the game actually do feel like "

GruntLogic's Top 100 Favorite Video Games (100 games items)

"Where to begin to describe this game? This one is a biggie. This game has a legendary reputation. It was one of the most ambitious and innovative games of it's time. It really tried to present the player with multiple paths to achieving objectives, and it gave many of the player's actions consequences. I'll also add that it often did the later without hammering you over the head about it.

"Game with the best story: Deus Ex This game not only revolutionized the gaming world by letting the player find solutions to fit the way they wanted to play, but also with a thoughtful--and eerily reminiscent--story of a dystopian future where the Grey Death runs rampant in the metropolises and the only cure is secretly saved for the privileged and the shortages blamed on terrorists. However, nanotechnology is infused into the story, as you, JC Denton, are the forefront of that technology, an"

“Deus Ex told a fascinating story and featured enough quasi-unique elements to make it a truly fantastic game.

The gameplay here was all about choice. Depending on how you outfit your character you could approach the same situation in a myriad of different ways. You could hack your way in, use stealth tactics to get the drop on your enemies or (this was often the most difficult approach) go in with guns blazing. That sense of choice extends to the various augmentations you can install in your character.

The writing and usage of familiar environments (like the Statue of Liberty) really made this game stand out. It's one of the best futuristic shooters out there.” read more
