This game provided me with countless, countless hours of fun when it was first released. I think it was a mixture of not knowing any better and not realising just how outrageous and far fetched the plot and gameplay was. I didn't care.

It looks fairly dated by todays standards and it is nowhere near as serious as modern RTS games, but I guess that is part of the fun. The game isn't... read more

Bringing Down The Hammer: Greatest Tanks (11 games items)

" Apocalypse Tank Army: Soviet Army Armament: Dual 120mm ADPS cannons & Mammoth Tusk AA Missiles Armour: Advanced Heavy Alloy Armour The Apocalypse tank is the natural successor to the Mammoth and maintains its unparalleled armour and fire-power benefits. Sixteen-layers of protective armour help to nullify its perceived weakness against air and anti-tank infantry. The anti-air missiles were removed after World War II in favour of magnetic harpoons."

Command & Conquer Superweapons (10 games items)

" The Weather Control Device could manipulate the weather patterns to create a powerful lightning storm. The lightning bolts could destroy heavily armored structures. Interestingly enough, the more surface area (of the Earth), that a building occupied, the more likely that it would be to be destroyed. The weather control device also shuts off all enemies radar for a short period of time. Universe: Red Alert Faction: Allied Nations (RA2) Video Unavailable at Present"

Community Service (15 games items)

"Number of Friends: Five People Friendship Group: The Lads The 'Royale' was born, when me and my friends went up against each other online. No holds barred, all against all. This particular skirmish holds many fond memories for me, mainly because I won, but also because I astounded myself with my own tactical brilliance. I'd probably count it up there with my top gaming achievements. Not only overcoming friends, but unholy alliances and unspoken agreements to triumph as the final bell tolled. "

I want my life back! (20 games items)

"Estimate: 60 hours (2.5 days) One of the only RTS games I ever got good at. That skill doesn't come for free! Online skirmishes were the soup of the day, not to mention a brilliant campaign mode."

It looks fairly dated by todays standards and it is nowhere near as serious as modern RTS games, but I guess that is part of the fun. The game isn't difficult, the plot is entertaining and thanks to the cut scenes, rewarding. The online play was top notch as well, as you might expect from a Westwood game. I can't believe it is 7 years old, I remember buying it in the shop and returning eagerly to play the latest installment of my favourite franchise. I wouldn't even attempt to instal this on a vista machine these days, and I would recommend steeri” read more
