This is the game that sparked an interest in the RTS genre for me. I have so many fond memories of playing this around my cousin's house and thinking it was one of the most brutal and realistic games I'd ever seen! It literally amazed me how you could manage so many troops on the field at the same time and that they would all automatically fire at will whenever they came into contact with the enem... read more

Description: Command & Conquer developed ideas from Westwood's previous Dune 2, forming a real time strategy game which has influenced many. The control system of selecting units with the mouse and then directing them is similar to future titles such as Total Annihilation. The game focuses on a war between two organizations, The Brotherhood of Nod and the Global Defense Initiative. You can take control of either side for more than 15 missions. Both have different units and structures, including artillery, tanks and light infantry. In most missions you have to build a base first to build new units and structures. Most important are ... "1995 - However it was Westwood's next creation that really ushered in the new genre. C&C was very impressive. Large armies of tanks and infantry, video cut sequences and impressive visuals, Westwood created a masterpiece given the hardware limits it had to work with. "

"#66 - Kane When it comes to evil masterminds, it's hard to beat Kane. While any old run-of-the-mill bad guy can shave his head, grow a goatee and glower at you over tented fingers, there's something about the way Kane does it that lets you know you've crossed over from simple villainy into pure evil. He's really everything you could want in an evil super villain. He's ridiculously intelligent but also seemingly insane in his pursuit of "peace through power." He's charismatic enough to inspire t"

" X-66 Mammoth Tank Army: Global Defence Initiative Armament: Twin 180mm Cannons & Mammoth Tusk Missiles Armour: Heavy GDI's super-heavy tank of the First Tiberium War is one of the franchises most iconic units. The beast was powered by on-board atomic generators and had a limited self-repair ability. Although retired after the first way, Mammoth tanks were salvaged by many members of the Forgotten from abandoned GDI bases. "

It literally amazed me how you could manage so many troops on the field at the same time and that they would all automatically fire at will whenever they came into contact with the enemy. Mind blowing!

As I got older I began to appreciate the story line a bit more. That in itself is epic and has spawned an entire new universe of sequels and fan fictions. The game was revolutionary at the time and isn't so bad these days. I wouldn't think twice about giving it a run through and I own it on the playstation as well. The almost cartoon-like battle FMVs and the legendary vi” read more
