The game's greatest flaw is the battle theme Eternity, from an otherwise awesome soundtrack. If listening to this song while you battle hundreds of times doesn't deter you, the childishly cute Marumaro may not be your style. This game catches a lot of undeserved flack in my opinion. If you're a big fan of turn based jRPG's with the cartoony type animation then this game is for you. The game is a little different in regards to combat in the fact that you don't fight with weapons but your shadow which is depicted by a dragon. Leveling up your character is the usual classic style of earning EXP throught the game. This ... read more

Blue Dragon was the first game developed by Mistwalker, a development studio created by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and a few other former Squaresoft employees. It's not a bad game, but it's also not a game at the level we were used to seeing from Sakaguchi's Final Fantasy games. That said, the game feels like a throwback to the days of old, but without a whole lot of modern-day touches to it "

I like Blue Dragon as a whole...And I really enjoy it in the beginning...However, as the story progresses, the gameplay really doesn't. It stays very basic through the whole game...It never really has any substance to it. It's rather boring towards the end, actually. That said, it's not a bad game by any means, and well worth playing through for any RPG fan. Just about everything else like graphics, music, and characters (except for the extremely annoying Marumaro) help add t"

I reviewed the game. Blue Dragon would have gotten an 8 if a variety of battle songs were made by Nobuo Uematsu, instead of listening to this song for hours (practically every battle uses that annoying song)."

“The game's greatest flaw is the battle theme Eternity, from an otherwise awesome soundtrack. If listening to this song while you battle hundreds of times doesn't deter you, the childishly cute Marumaro may not be your style. Blue Dragon is about a 50 hour game, and isn't too gratifying story-wise for adults because it's a game aimed towards younger people, and the plot isn't great enough to have as broad of an appeal as a game like Earthbound. The game's mechanics are great, but fighting through the blue dragons your characters summon wasn't too involving because of the limited number of moves and animations. Techincal aspects like the fighting menu and non-random encounters are perfect. Blue Dragon is pretty fun and innovative, but it isn't a memorable enough experience to be recommended.” read more

Considering how cheap this game now is in stores I'd say it's 100% worth a try for RPG fans out there.” read more
