This was a really heart warming movie. The first half of the movie is hilarious Roberto Benigni's antics. The love story is wonderful to watch. Then you get to the second half of the movie and get to see the stark realities of WW2. It is a stark contrast to the first part of the movie and shows how horribly families were torn apart during the war. A must see.

An international sensation and the most successful foreign language film in U.S. history, the picture also earned director-cowriter-star Benigni Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Actor. He plays the Jewish country boy Guido, a madcap romantic in Mussolini's Italy who wins the heart of his sweetheart (Benigni's real-life sweetie, Nicoletta Braschi) and raises a darling son (the adorable Giorgio Cantarini) in the shadow of fascism.
