violence

unrelenting violence with a surprise gotta-cha sort've ending (even if you guessed, what it was its still rewarding).

these uber-violent movies leave me a little wanting. they seem determined to test ones limits for painful violence being performed on someone...and they succeed in that. when it takes up most of the movie, it makes me long for more story and more dialog. still for what it is, high tension does it well and has some surprises along the way.

Since my birth, there have been movies i have regretted not going to see becuase of poor advertising making commercials and tv spots which do the movie no justice and put a different spin on things... this one i regret not seeing the most. Tattooed on me is the cover, from wrist to elbow in all it's bloody glory; as deserved. Not too long after the beginning (where two college girls are in one of their farms to study for an exam) does the blood spill. Armed with a straight razor, a shady man (of whom his face we never completely see) rings the dooor bell of the farm and begins to slice, starting with the father who opens the door (for what reason? i don't know) the suspense in this movie shows clearly where it got it's name, even i had to pause it to get popcorn, man this shit was intense....Read more

I have never seen a movie with more plot holes ever. The plot was trying to be creative and clever, but all it did was create a bunch of confusing points in the movie. Many of which are self defeating based off the end. Looking back after seeing the end, the movie as a story makes absolutely no sense. But the title brings what it promised; this movie is quite stressful and is in fact full of High Tension. Everything up to the last 10 minutes of the movie was great. The ending was like seeing someone run 100 yards to the end zone and take a tumble with 1 yard to go. It was all good up to that point. The ending would have been a good “alternate ending” for the DVD. The kind you see and go “oh yeah I can see why they didn’t use that ending” but in this case they di...Read more
