Farinelli (Stefano Dionisi) and his composer brother Riccardo (Enrico Lo Verso) toured the royal courts of Europe performing for the nobility, the two brothers shared everything including their women. Riccardo would sleep with all of Farinellis girlfriends whilst hiding the truth behind Farinellis castration from him.
Farinelli admired the works of Handel (Jereon Krabbe) and a young girl, Alexandra (Elsa Zylberstein), recognizing this, steals his latest work in order to express her love for Farinelli. Farinelli breaks up his partnership with Riccardo. Riccardo is devastated and pours his heart out to Handel. For three years Farinelli finds peace in self-imposed exile with Alexandra. Riccardo returns and old wounds are opened up. A stunning tale of rivalry and obsession, set amid the baroque extravagance of European courts and opera houses.
