surprisingly good, occasionally surreal.
not 100% perfect but entirely entertaining. what really makes this movie worthwhile are the songs. what an awful idea it seems to redo beatles songs, and i like many people had huge reservations about the film because of it. i'm not a huge beatles fan but i do like their songs and redo-ing them seems wrong. however, they're great. even my father who grew up at the time when the beatles were a part of life thinks these versions are better than the originals. thats saying something...they really pulled it off. die hard beatles fans may be put off, the rest of us enjoyed it.

some of the surreal parts are startling and unexpected but quite psychodelic and fun.

I was enjoying this film until the "I Am the Walrus" scene...and the next 20 minutes or so after that were quite annoying and completely unnecessary to the story. The fact that this is a musical was all that really kept me watching even after seeing all the unnecessary bits, but I wasn't blown away by the film at all.
