"Gibby Haynes Gibby can sing as well as he howls & screams, and it seems like he doesn't get as much credit as he should due to the fact that the Surfers' music is too out there for most people. My introduction to them was Independent Worm Saloon, an album where most of the songs sound like they come from different bands instead of all being created by one. I can't choose: The Wooden Song or Who Was In My Room Last Night?"

"One of the most original bands out there (and man are they out there). Aside from the 1st time I saw them (the above 3 bands opened that show) their shows were highly entertaining."

Best Live Bands (50 person items)

"A Surfers show is also an experience, and for that it deserves a high spot on this list. This is another band where anything can happen when they play, probably in front of a backdrop with surgical videos and other bizarre images projected on it. Their live shows were always every bit as weird as their music, and that's saying something."
