Atticus Finch is a lawyer in a small American town in the Deep South where a black man gets accused of the rape of a white woman. The story is told through the eyes of his children who struggle to understand the attitudes of the adults around them towards class and racism as Atticus struggles to defend his client. (There are no tips for killing mockingbirds).

A very important book at the time - some of the impact may be lost nowadays but its still worth reading.
