Yet again Meyer has written a book that I find quite painful to put down, it's too addictive for that. It's "science fiction for people who don't like science fiction" which is the perfect description and actually made me want to read it more in the beginning. Sure it's a story about alien invasion and it has aliens mentioned constantly through out but you get to a point where you don't really thi... read more
Don't let the fact that Stephenie Meyer wrote it scare you away. The Host is a much less dysfunctional story of a girl who plays host to an alien mind in her head. It's a beautiful story about seeing beyond what you think you know and finding love in the least likely places. It's about friendship and freedom and making hard choices. It's one of my favorites in the love stoy science fiction cat... read more

Amazon Best of the Month, May 2008: Stephenie Meyer, creator of the phenomenal teen-vamp Twilight series, takes paranormal romance into alien territory in her first adult novel. Those wary of sci-fi or teen angst will be pleasantly surprised by this mature and imaginative thriller, propelled by equal parts action and emotion. A species of altruistic parasites has peacefully assumed control of the minds and bodies of most humans, but feisty Melanie Stryder won't surrender her mind to the alien soul called Wanderer. Overwhelmed by Melanie's memories of fellow resistor Jared, Wanderer yields to her body's longing and sets off into the desert to find him. Likely the first love triangle involving just two bodies, it's unabashedly romantic, and the characters (human and alien) genuinely endearing. Readers intrigued by this familiar-yet-alien world will gleefully note that the story's end leaves the door open for a sequel--or another series. --Mari Malcolm
" Wanda is a 'soul', who has taken over Melanie's unconcious body. Yet Melanie refuses to be silenced, and Wanderer longs for Melanie's lover whom she has never met..."

“How many ways can I say I love this book. I'm a big fan of Sci-Fi! Stephenie's first dip in was a beautiful dive. The characters are so vibrant. The difference between our world and the one see imagined is a small line we haven't crossed. You can almost see how the world might work without any unrest. It's a very odd picture. I find myself screaming and Wanda as she stays true to her nature. She is the brightest light shining through the dark. Her origin, ironic, makes her alien. Her reverence for life makes her unique.
This book is a great tool for learning equality and compassion across all bondaries.” read more

"Well I'm still waiting for the sequel to this one. I'm not sure it will ever happen and I'm not even sure Stephenie Meyer will ever release another novel but even without a sequel, this story is very attaching and it's one of those great fantasy/romance books that I love so much!

"I judged this book so much, like, ugh, my mum got it for Christmas to me and I was so disappointed and I tried to read it but I never got to pass chapter 9. After FOUR TRIES I finally passed from chapter 9 and guys, I regretted not doing it before.
There's nothing special about the way Meyer writes (well, duh, look at Twilight) but this book is amazing because is different from any other book. It needs a sequel!!!!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE STEPHENIE MEYER!

"day 24 - favorite female character in a book
Wanda's adult prespective on discovering human emotion is a great insight into the fundamentals of ourselves."
“Meyer's Delivers again. If i thought Twilight was devine, then The Host is transindent. Never have i been so gripped by a novel. It was so good i was a total wench when i had to put it down. It was all i could do to stretch out reading it. I wish daily for her to write more about that world.” read more
