Remembering Stevie Ray Vaughan (30 person items)

" Albert King: "Yeah just like old times. Still I'm sittin' here, I wouldn't have missed this for nothing in the world." Stevie Ray Vaughan: "I remember the first time I met you. Coliseum at Austin Texas, 1976." Albert King: "Yeah...you was standing out there lookin'. I said 'who is that little skinny kid?'" Stevie Ray Vaughan: (Laughs) "I was skinny too." Albert King: "Yeah straight up like a pop sickle. And the night I sat in, I was listening', you thought I wasn't. I thought about it al"

The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Ignores These Greats (8 person items)

"Can you really imagine a world without Albert King? That's a pretty scary thought if you ask me. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has had many, many years to put the great left handed Blues player that inspired many that those same critics that vote are still drooling over. When Cream was inducted into the Hall, they played 'Born Under A Bad Sign' in tribute to Albert King. Those critics that vote for the Rock Hall, 9 out of 10 will probably tell you Page or Clapton is the greatest ever, as they"

My Favorite Guitar Tones (20 person items)

"I don't care what anyone says, I think Albert King made people want to pick up a Flying V. He made them sound so bad ass, yet they are uncomfortable guitars if you're a man like me. His style and tone was a huge building block on me as a guitar player. I learned so many things about string bending, phasing and box patterns, I have to thank Albert King for a majority of that. "

Origins of Guitar - The Original Masters (13 person items)

"I don't think many people to this day ever wonder where Stevie Ray Vaughan got most of his bending secrets from. He built most of his own style centered around a very heavy influence of Albert King. Without Albert King, you would not have 3/4's of Blues players that like to create crazy bends and solo around it. Jimi Hendrix is another one you can easily see the Albert King influence all over. There is something I call the "Albert King box" in guitar playing, and it's all over SRV's songs; spec"

Musicians that changed my life (9 person items)

"One of the Three Kings in Blues that helped pave the road for the future. I first listened to Albert King after hearing SRV mention him in an interview as a heavy influence. Listening to Albert enough, you can easily see how heavily influenced SRV was by him. What I love the most about Albert King is his fierce fret work, he really lights up the guitar and brings it to life in his playing. Favorite Album - Years Gone By Best Album - Born Under A Bad Sign Best Live Album - Albert King & SRV Se"

Famous Guitars! (18 person items)

"Lucy! Suggested by Skontch 1! King's first instrument was a diddley bow. Next, he built himself a cigar box guitar, before buying a Guild acoustic. The instrument he is usually associated with is a 1958 Gibson Flying V, "Lucy." He retired Lucy in 1974 and began using a Flying V built by Dan Erlewine, and after 1980 also one built by Radley Prokopow"
